As we say we are "The World's Biggest little racing team!" a family dedicated to motorsport and most things to do with cars.
Whilst the initial interest in racing came from their father, who used to rally drive and race himself in his early years in the UK. His best result was a 6th outright in the famous Welsh "Cilwendeg Rally" in a Mini that was by then uncompetitive.
Simon, then did what most dad's do and took Pierce and Adam to hire go kart venues on the Gold Coast.
Later whilst in Melbourne the lads started racing at the Le Mans track, a place where many V8 Supercar drivers go to hone their skills and set times, they were soon knocking out unbelievable times and beating regular racers and making quiet a name for themselves.
On returning the Brisbane in 2019 they entered their first Sodi Series in the Junior Sprint Category ending up mid table that year.
2020 whilst still entering the Junior Sodi Series, they started winning races and getting on podiums as well as many fastest laps.
Later that year they stepped up to compete in the Sodi Open (Adult) Endurance races and well as entering the Sodi Open (Adult) Sprint series which gave them greater confidence and pitted their wits against many seasoned drivers.
By the time the 2021 season had arrived, they had decided to compete solely in the Sodi World Series in Open Sprints and Endurance races forming the endurance team "APR Racing" with a guest 3 and/or 4th drivers. With success in the sprint series and solid results in the endurance the lads were certainly performing ahead of their years.
Just over half way through the season, the main venue we were racing at was forced into temporary closure leaving the 2021 season looking as though it was in taters and over. But in typical style we wouldn't give up or give in and found away of keeping going.
During the year the lads also attended the Paul Morris Racing School at Norwell Motor Complex taking their skills from kart to car.
The lads were then also offered a race and testing in an endurance race car out at Morgan Park raceway in Warwick Queensland, for which they received the nickname's of "The Stigs".
As parents we didn't want to let the lads dream of becoming professional race drivers end there, so after selling the family car and many other items we took a deep breath and purchased both an Endurance Go Kart and an Endurance Race Car.
The car was going to be a build for the 2022 season which is well on track.
With an endurance kart secured, we then had to apply for special permission to race in the endurance events as they are both still classified as juniors. After evaluation they were allowed to compete and in their first 9hr endurance and came a very creditable 6th overall.
A lot of learnings have happened during 2021 and in their second endurance race at Ipswich they managed to achieve a 3rd place podium, first time out using their own kart under the APR Racing banner.
2022 and beyond. During the off season the kart is being stripped down and rebuilt whilst the endurance car continues to be transformed into a racer. With everything under the teams control for 2022 it is now down to the team to ensure everything is right and ready for a terrific season over some 14 races across 2 totally different categories and vehicles.
December 2022
It is the teams aim to be a representative Australian team at The World 24Hr Endurance Go Kart Race in Dubai. This will be a tremendous effort and a result of all the hard work that this "World's Biggest little racing team" will have done to date.
The teams manager is Pierce and Adam's father Simon. Who does all the behind the scenes work, web site building, sponsorship proposals everything that has to be done to make the team operate and compete. He also race director during the races and strategist to achieve the best results possible.
Simon himself used to rally a Mini in the mid 80's as well as driving various cars around tracks in the UK.
Having a degree in Business and Finance Majoring in Marketing certainly helps when it comes to all the administrative side of the team.
When he is not running the team he is State Manager for v2food, Australia's largest plant based meat manufacturer.
Their Mother, D'Arne, supports the team and keeps all the lads sustained during the races.
The whole team really is a family affair.
